TidyBot: Autonomous Robotic Cleanup and Stacking System

Winner of the Best Workshop Award of the Blavatnic School of Computer Science and AI.

Introducing TidyBot, an innovative robotic solution that transforms room tidying. This cutting-edge system combines a mobile base with a budget 6DoF robotic arm to autonomously locate, collect, and neatly stack used cups scattered across a room.

Key Features:

  • Intelligent Detection: Utilizes budget-friendly ultrasonic sensors for efficient cup localization
  • Versatile Pickup: Capable of grasping cups in various orientations, including upright and sideways
  • Precise Stacking: Arranges collected cups into a single, organized pile
  • Modular Design: Integrates an iRobot Create 3 platform with a myCobot 280 robotic arm

TidyBot showcases the potential of affordable robotics in practical applications. Developed by a team of undergraduate computer science students, this project demonstrates the fusion of motion planning, sensor integration, and robotic manipulation.
